[CED/CD/EAT] 4-H Virtual Engagement Guidance

Good Afternoon,

I heard that 4-H staff were well represented on the Youth Safety update today. Thank you for being in attendance, it is much appreciated. There were a couple of clarifications sought.

Supervision ratio: 4-H has established a supervision ratio beyond Youth Safety. Please follow the 4-H guidance.
Breakout rooms: The breakout room is within the Zoom meeting, and does not need two caring adults for each breakout room. The host does need to monitor the breakout rooms.
Care, Custody, and Control: In virtual engagements it is important to share that we do accept care of a young person (ensuring a safe environment and we are not connecting youth to risks), yet we are unable to be in a position to take custody or control of a youth. Imagine if a young person had a seizure, we could not do anything to get that young person to a hospital. Therefore parent custody and control is intact. We do not need to have parents sitting with the child on a Zoom meeting but they need to know they retain custody and control of their child.
Video: Standards have advanced for recording and sharing video of Zoom activities since COVID-19 changes have occurred. The video expectations have been clearly laid out in our guidance, and the AZ4-H QuaranTEEN Challenge videos are being removed from the State 4-H Website because they no longer showcase best practice for mitigating youth risk.
