My name is Amanda Platt and I am The Bio/Diversity Project's Support Specialist. We are seeking applicants for our upcoming 100% remote Spring 2021 internship opportunity for UArizona students. Would you be willing to share with your student network?

The Bio/Diversity Project brings together the combined efforts of the Women in Science and Engineering Program (WISE) at the University of Arizona, Saguaro National Park, and the Friends of Saguaro National Park to diversify the environmental sciences and provide environmental science outreach education to underserved schools in metro-Tucson. Applications and more information can be found on our website at: biodiversityproject.arizona.edu<http://biodiversityproject.arizona.edu/>. Please reach out to Elena Greenberg at elenagreenberg at arizona.edu<mailto:elenagreenberg at arizona.edu> with any questions.
The Bio/Diversity Project Internship Description

Interns in the Bio/Diversity Project are paired with local K-12 teachers and serve in Title I schools to implement culturally relevant, place-based, and hands-on environmental science curriculum focused on the biodiversity of the Sonoran Desert. This upcoming Spring 2021 semester, interns will facilitate distance-learning lessons to local K-12 students. In exchange for a commitment of 10 hours per week, interns receive 3-units of academic credit through any of 17 different departments. Weekly internship classes and assignments help equip interns with the skills necessary to develop curriculum and teach through an equity lens, and are utilized directly in the K-12 classrooms.

Applications for interns are accepted with a deadline of December 18th, 2020. Early applications are preferred. Apply Today!<https://biodiversityproject.arizona.edu/get-involved/intern-biodiversity-project>

ASEMS fosters a culture of inclusive excellence at the University of Arizona by empowering STEM students with the tools necessary to succeed while recognizing their unique backgrounds and assets.

The University of Arizona sits on the original homelands of Indigenous peoples who have stewarded this land since time immemorial. Aligning with the university’s core value of a diverse and inclusive community, it is an institutional responsibility to recognize and acknowledge the people, culture, and history that make up the Wildcat community. At the institutional level, it is important to be practice in broadening awareness throughout campus to ensure our students feel represented and valued.
