Subject: Student Learning Services Graduate Teaching Assistant for SAS100AX

Hello Linda, thank you for taking the time to meet with me today.  I have enclosed the job description as well as a syllabus for the class.  I am excited about our class and the opportunity it brings to our students here at the University.  It is for incoming Freshman who have placed into beginning Algebra, roughly equivalent to what most students take their freshman year in high school.  Previously students who placed into this level of math were sent to Pima.  It is not a math class.  There will be some math content, but the majority of the lectures are designed to strengthen our students ability to succeed in all levels of math, not just the Math100AX they are concurrently enrolled in.  We work closely with the math department, as well as the Think Tank Learning Specialists and tutors to insure that these students have every opportunity to be successful. I hope that some of your graduate students will be interested in applying for the position.  Thank you very much, Larry
