Dear Advisors,

 

The following information is in regards to GROs for ENGL101+.

 

Prior to Fall 2012, students with English 100 Placement were required to
take ENGL101 WITH ENGL197B . As of Fall 2012, we no longer offer this
combination. Students with English 100 placement now take ENGL101A for 4
units (includes a Lecture with Discussion). This change might be causing
some confusion with regards to GROs.  

 

Students admitted PRIOR to Fall 2012, who took both ENGL101 WITH ENGL197B,
can GRO ENGL101.  Because ENGL197B was a pass/fail course, it cannot be
retaken for GRO.

The confusion that some students are having this semester is that they think
they have to GRO ENGL101A, the new course that replaces the 101/197B
combination. This is not the case since only the same course catalog number
can be retaken for GRO. 

 

Students who want to GRO English 101, need to register for ENGL101. They can
contact us at 621-3553 to request a Milestone Update for this purpose. 

 

Students who did not complete ENGL101/197B, can take and are eligible in the
system to register for ENGL101A.
