As of Fall 2012, we no longer offer this combination. Students with English 100 placement now take ENGL101A for 4 units (includes a Lecture with Discussion). This change might be causing some confusion with regards to GROs. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><b>Students admitted PRIOR to Fall 2012, who took both ENGL101 WITH ENGL197B,</b> <b>can GRO ENGL101.</b> Because ENGL197B was a pass/fail course, it cannot be retaken for GRO.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>The confusion that some students are having this semester is that they think they have to GRO ENGL101<b><u>A</u></b>, the new course that replaces the 101/197B combination. This is not the case since only the same course catalog number can be retaken for GRO. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Students who want to GRO English 101, need to register for ENGL101.
