Austin Rutherford in Professor Steve Archer’s Lab is looking to hire a part-time Undergraduate Assistant to aid in a woody plant recruitment study. The project includes greenhouse/lab work on the UA campus as well as field work at the Santa Rita Experimental Range (45 minutes south of Tucson). The proliferation of unpalatable woody and grass weeds threatens the nation’s rangelands and their ability to produce wool, meat and various other services.


Specifically, we are looking for an undergraduate that could devote ~10-15 hours per week throughout the Spring 2018 semester to help in processing plant and soil samples, planting seeds, measuring seedling growth and survival, and assisting with study plot infrastructure maintenance. Opportunities for continuation through the Summer 2018 period are possible.

Hourly Rate: $10/hr
