> Hi Clara
>
> Now that we are well into the Fall semester, I would hope that the Tierra Seca student club is off to a great start.
>
> The volunteer buffelgrass effort in the Tucson valley was cut short by the abrupt cessation of rains in early August. We halted all spraying by mid September this year because the plants were just too dry to spray.
>
> In contrast, the canyons in the Catalinas are still wet enough to support green invasive Fountaingrass plants and now is a perfect time to get out and spot spray those plants.
> We will need 6 to 8 volunteers to hike up Cargadera Canyon and spray fountaingrass next Saturday 4 November. This is a relatively easy 1.3 mile hike up a beautiful canyon on the northeast edge of Catalina State Park. We will leave at 8am and should be back by 12-1pm.
>
> In addition, we will sponsor our annual volunteer work day at the Waterman Restoration project site on Saturday 2 December.
>
> Please let me know if you have any members interested in participating in either of those events and I will provide more details..
>
> I would be happy to come in soon to share with your group a powerpoint summary of the Waterman Restoration project as well as our "Saving the Crown Jewel" riparian canyons of the Catalinas and Sta Ritas.
