Looking for the opportunity to conduct research AND earn scholarship funding?
Check out UA's Beckman Scholarship Program!

The Beckman Scholarship Program, funded by the Beckman Foundation, is designed to "help stimulate, encourage and support research activities by exceptionally talented undergraduate students at our nation's universities and colleges; young people who ultimately will become prominent leaders in their scientific and professional pursuits." (http://www.beckman-foundation.com/bsp-statement.html)

The Beckman Scholarship at the University of Arizona provides funding for students of any major to conduct in-depth research with one of 15 stellar research mentors in UA's College of Science (https://ubrp.arizona.edu/programs/beckman/mentors/). Students who are accepted to the program identify a mentor from this list, and work with him or her to develop a research project of interest. They will spend Summer 2015, the 2015-2016 academic year, and Summer 2016 working in the mentor's lab on this project and engaging in professional development activities, such as meeting with eminent scientists from around the world, attending the annual Beckman Symposium, and leading fellow undergraduates in small group discussions. The scholarship is a prestigious one, providing a total student stipend of $18,200 plus $2,800 for research supplies and travel over the course of this 15-month research experience.

The deadline for applications is January 28, 2015 and we will select between one and three Beckman Scholars for this 15-month award. To apply, please visit https://ubrp.arizona.edu/programs/beckman/. Applicants should consider working on their applications ASAP, as this application is a complex one.

If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

Regards,
Jennifer
