Do you know how to eat mesquite? Would you like to learn?
Come to the 1st annual Wildcat Mesquite Milling!
University of Arizona Dining Services and Office of Sustainability present
UA's 1st Annual Wildcat Mesquite Milling
Saturday, October 29th 9:00AM-12:00PM
The Village at Sam Hughes--parking lot just north of Rincon Market (accessed
via 6th St)
The public is invited to mill their mesquite pods and learn about foods
native to Arizona from University of Arizona's sustainable food experts.
Local non-profit organization Desert Harvesters will be operating their
hammermill from 9AM to noon, turning mesquite pods into delicious flour.
Learn about the nutritional and environmental benefits of mesquite flour,
and discover tasty new ways to incorporate it into your diet. Volunteers
from the UA Office of Sustainability will be on hand to provide information
on UA's mesquite project, which encourages volunteers to harvest mesquite
both on campus and at home. Please contact Jess Thompson for more
information (jthompso at email.arizona.edu, 621-1756).
Special thanks go to The Village at Sam Hughes for hosting this event (visit
thevillagetucson.com for more information).
