Greetings Colleague,
Are you interested in learning more about teaching at the college level, working and communicating with adult learners, and/or exploring the scholarship of teaching and learning? Would you like to improve your knowledge and skills in these areas to help with a TAship, the job market, and your future? Consider taking college teaching courses or earning a Certificate in College Teaching (http://cct.oia.arizona.edu/)
Graduate-level courses are open to all postbaccalaureate graduate students, postdocs, faculty, and staff. These courses can be taken individually OR as part of the Certificate in College Teaching<http://cct.oia.arizona.edu/>.
Courses for Fall 2022:
IA 597d: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in College Teaching
(3 units; offered Fall semesters)
Tuesdays and Thursdays 11:00 am - 12:15 pm Flex In-Person
This workshop-style course focuses on the practical application of multidisciplinary scholarship that informs inclusive and equity-minded teaching practice in higher education. Students will draw from evidence-based concepts and scholarly discourses to develop and articulate their teaching philosophies, strategies, and practices within their varying teaching contexts. Personal and professional development opportunities are built into the course.
IA 697a: Learner-Centered Teaching
(2 units; offered Spring/Fall semesters)
Tuesdays 2:00 - 4:00 pm Live Online (via Zoom)
This course provides a foundation in learner-centered teaching, and includes scholarship of college-level teaching and learning, approaches course and lesson design, techniques to implement and assess active and collaborative learning, and development of reflective teaching practices. Appropriate for anyone interested in learning more about college-level teaching or adult education.
IA 697b: Technology in Teaching
(2 units; offered Fall semesters)
Wednesdays 4:00 - 5:50 pm In-Person
This 2-unit workshop-style course focuses on skills and knowledge for effective use of technology to motivate and interact with students, create and organize information, guide and assess learning. Topics include: visual design, e-portfolios, academic integrity, learning management systems, multimedia recording, equity, design of meaningful learning experiences online and off.
