Learning how to establish, defend, and negotiate salary and benefits is fundamental to your career when entering the workforce. The local chapter of the American Association of University Women and the Graduate Center are excited to host a series of in-person workshops designed to prepare you for your transition and help you set yourself up for success.
All sessions are free of charge. Attendees sign up for the whole series, not individual sessions. Space is limited to 24, so please register to secure your seat. Register at http://goo.gl/tGJvhp . Workshops will take place on September 14 and 21 from 12 PM to 1 PM, and September 28 from 12 PM to 1:30 PM.

Workshop Schedule
September 14, 12 PM to 1 PM
Understanding the Gender Pay Gap and Establishing Your Salary Goals
The first of three workshops, this session will focus on understanding the gender pay gap, what it means for your earning potential, and the importance of negotiating a strong starting salary. Attendees will learn how to use public job and employment data to compare and evaluate a good starting salary based on the position they are seeking and how to utilize similar benchmarking practices to negotiate for it.
September 21, 12 PM to 1 PM
Determining Your Target Starting Salary
This workshop will build upon the first session by benchmarking and exploring the factors that determine what a good starting salary is for an individual's needs and goals. The second half of the session will feature a guest speaker from the Tucson community who will discuss their experience with benchmarking and negotiation preparation as well as answering questions from audience members.
September 28, 12 PM to 1:30 PM (may be shortened to 1 PM)
Making the Most of Your Interview and Negotiating Effectively
The final of three workshops, this session will focus on negotiation practices and strategies for you to get the best salary you can. Attendees will learn how interviews can set the stage for determining a starting salary, how to leverage employee benefits in the event your salary goal cannot be met, how to side step inappropriate interview questions in a professional manner, and how to conclude an interview to maximize your earning potential. The session will include opportunities to role play interviewing scenarios.
