[Plsfaculty] Nomination and Election of a SPLS Representative in CALS/ALVSCE Faculty Council

Dear all,



There is a vacancy for a SPLS representative on the CALS/ALVSCE Faculty Council for the coming academic year, as Zhongguo Xiong has recently completed his term (2022-2024). Ramin Yadegari will continue to serve on the Council for another year.



The Faculty Council is an important governance body that addresses the concerns of all CALS/ALVSCE faculty (Tenure Track, Career Track, and Extension) in their daily activities. Highlights of the discussion over the past year include budget management priorities, involvement of Professor of Practice in research activity, instructional workload equity and fairness. Some of these discussions resulted in college-wide memos that clarified policies and led to appropriate policy changes. Serving on the Council is a great opportunity to connect with other faculty in the college, gain insight into college operations, and interact with ALVSCE senior leadership. Faculty at any career stage can benefit greatly from this experience.



If you are interested in filling this upcoming vacancy (or have any questions), please email Ramin or Xiong. Self-nominations are due by Friday, August 16. Since all positions on the Faculty Council are elected by unit faculty, an election will be held next week before the start of the semester.
