Subject: Faculty Conversations about SPLS leadership plans
Dear colleagues,

We would like to convene a few gatherings to talk as a group about the future of leadership in SPLS. To bring everyone up to date, our Director Search committee identified 4 finalists for the position and was in the process of arranging for their on-campus visits when CALES imposed a hiring freeze due to the large college deficit, as Shane explained in an email on October 3rd. The finalists were informed that there would be a pause, but we are still very interested in interviewing them once the college lifts the pause.

With that in mind, we hoped to gather all interested to consider how to move forward.  We know everyone has a busy schedule, but we hope you will consider joining. We have listed three options in hopes of connecting with as many of our colleagues as possible.

Each meeting will be convened by at least one of us. We'll plan to meet in person with a Zoom option.

The meetings will not be recorded. There is no agenda - just a conversation centering on 'where are we, what are the key needs we see in terms of SPLS leadership and how our leadership will proceed until the search is restarted.'

These meetings are meant to be safe spaces for collegial discussions of our future. Individuals are more than welcome to chat with either of us, as well, to share thoughts/concerns.
