A. I will use ChatGPT as a tool in my class anyhow. It’s great that it exists and folks can get more stuff done that way. So yes, I’m interested.
B. Retreat to discuss a consistent implementation of chatGPT in the classroom is probably needed. Basically, setting the ground rules for using it and how we can still test if there is sufficient knowledge base in the individual student.

Hi All,
I'm interested in participating. For moving forward, I recommend a half-day to day-long retreat with short talks followed by discussion sections on:
1. AI basics (level set participants)
2. AI in research (emphasis on various plant bio applications)
3. AI in teaching
4. AI Ethics
5. What's next in AI (futurism)
Best,
-eric

Hi all:
Here’s a recent article about the emerging impact of ChatGPT and AI generally: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2023/04/14/upshot/up-ai-uses.html
I increasingly feel we need to formally mobilize to address this in our unit. Please let me know (a) your interest, and (b) your ideas as to how to move this forward.
Thanks!!
David
