[Plsfaculty] Student Employees update

Hello All,
For those of you who have Student Employees reporting to you, you would have received the announcement below concerning the cancelation of “University Release” Time Reporting code use for Student Employees only. Summary, effective May 6th (end of classes):
1. If you have a Student Employee who is able to work on projects remotely, then they may continue to work. Ensure they are choosing “Student Pay” for their timesheet. They will only record the number of hours they actually worked and will only be paid those hours.
1. If you have a Student Employee where you do not have any work that can be done remotely, they will no longer be paid.
If you have student(s) that fall into #2 above, please send me their names so we may keep track of who is affected by this change. As always, any questions, please let Amanda and myself know.

COVID-19 UPDATE
Dear HR Alliance Colleagues,
The message below was sent earlier today to all employees who supervise student workers. Please help us ensure that these supervisors in your unit receive this information.

Dear Supervisors,
Use of University Release time for student workers will end on May 6, 2020.
This change will not affect your student workers who continue to work, either remotely or on campus. In these cases, please schedule and report regular hours.
Please start exploring alternatives to University Release
If you have student workers relying on University Release time, please consider the following possible solutions.
* Creative remote work
Please stay in contact with your student workers about their availability for remote work. Review Human Resources’ helpful conversation guide<https://arizona.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0aeb616343625dbd0d696bf1f&id=ad4a0bfd35&e=3a4c9aa2f8> (PDF) for assistance.
* Trainings
Student workers who participate in trainings would report regular hours. Review the Build the Skill Workshops<https://arizona.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0aeb616343625dbd0d696bf1f&id=23c741d62d&e=3a4c9aa2f8> offered through Student Engagement and Career Development.
* Temporary reassignments
In early April, Human Resources conducted a survey of student workers. Many are open to temporary reassignment for remote work in a different unit. We are working to set up those assignments and will be in touch with you soon.
If your student worker is temporarily reassigned, they will continue to report time and be paid through your unit. The salary expense during this reassignment will be shared between the home unit and the temporary assignment unit. You will receive more information if you have a student reassigned to temporary work.
