[Plsfaculty] Seminars and seminar committee

We have selected a seminar committee for this coming year. This committee
should probably meet before the semester ends to begin the process of
inviting speakers. The committee includes:

 

Ramin Yadegari, Chair

Peter Cotty

David Galbraith

Scott Kroken

Mike Ottman

Ursula Schuch

 

Please nominate any speakers that you would like to hear in this coming year
to one of the members. Also, I would hope that we can fill in some slots
with several of our faculty; please volunteer. The Seminar Committee will
need to save some slots for graduate student presentations.

 

Donna-Rae will be sending the members of the committee all of the invited
speakers in the past 10 years along with all of the applicable dates.
Remember, that we are going to start earlier in the semester and stop later
so that we can accommodate external and internal speakers. 

 

It has been suggested that we aim to get speakers to travel on Tues, when
possible, so that they can give their seminar at 4:00, have dinner with
faculty and students on Tues evening and then visit with faculty on Wed
morning/early afternoon and we can get them on a flight on Wed evening. In
this way, we can hear the talk first and discuss later. It also saves a bit
on a second night in a hotel for some speakers.
