Please ignore this email if you do not use growth chambers.

The Department has a large number of growth chambers that have not been
maintained. I want to bring these chambers back on line very soon and make
them available for use. Of the 9 growth chambers that are on the main floor
of Forbes one is dead and 4 have nothing but dead plants in them and this
has been the case for some time. Two others are underutilized and we need to
see what we can do about consolidating. I have several requests:

1) If you own a growth chamber, ie, it was purchased from your
start-up or grants and you want to retain it for yourself, please contact
me.

2) If you have growth chambers that you feel were transferred to you
for your research use, please advise. If these chambers were purchased with
departmental funds and they are not kept up, I would hope that you would
transfer them to the pool so that they can be temporarily reassigned.

3) For all of the growth chambers that belong to the Department, most
to them, the Department will maintain them and there will be a monthly
charge for their use.

4) If the growth chamber or incubators belong to you but are in the
common space and are not using them or they are broken, please advise or
they will also be transferred to the pool, repaired, maintained and
reassigned for temporary use.

It would be great if I could get a small group of faculty to put a plan
together for how we could make better use of this equipment and charge for
it so that we can afford to maintain it. Can I get volunteers?

Advice please.
