Dear Students and Colleagues,

Starting Thursday, June 13, the University will implement Mimecast, a new email spam filter to enhance protection against viruses and malware while reducing unwanted emails received by students and employees.

What You Need to Know

As part of this change, Mimecast will send you a digest email titled, “You have new held messages,” listing the emails that have been identified as spam in your @arizona.edu account.

You will receive this notification three times daily, at 7 a.m., 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., listing spam emails that have been identified since the previous digest.

Managing Emails Identified as Spam

In every digest notification, you can take the following actions for each of the emails listed:

  * Release/Release All: Delivers this email or all messages, but future messages from this sender may still be blocked.
  * Permit/Permit All: Allows this email or all future messages from this trusted sender to be delivered.
  * Block/Block All: Blocks this email or all future messages from this sender.

You can also manage held emails by logging in to the Mimecast portal<https://click.comms.arizona.edu/?qs=a3debfa800c2b13e7307660a53f5a85330e796a71eb0141956c4a610655987881def6e2395f532f304d68868ef9b9311fa07c1415b131112b41be566b0af67ec> with your @arizona.edu email address and NetID password. Please note that you can use the portal to view any messages that may have been held during spam filter testing on June 5 and 6.

Over time, your actions will help Mimecast learn your individual preferences, allowing emails you do want to receive and reducing unwanted emails. In the near future, you will have the ability to opt out of receiving the email digest notifications.
