Hi Everyone,
For a number of reasons (issues with the CALS e-mail server, the desire to
use CALS funds to support other IT activities), the College's IT group has
recommended to the Dean that the College transition to the University's
email server. In anticipation of this change, I have asked Mario to begin
the process of converting the School of Plant Sciences e-mail addresses from
cals.arizona.edu to the UA's email address. The plan is to forward
everyone's CALs e-mails to the University system and give you several months
to notify your contacts of your new e-mail address. More information will
be coming from Mario as we move forward.
Mario has indicated that there are some advantages you should know about in
terms of making this change:
a. UA email allows better integration with enterprise applications like
calendar, Lync (messaging).
b. Calendars can be created and shared with anyone at the University, there
is also a global contact list for the University.
c. The Lync messaging program works with Exchange allowing you to instant
message, voice message and video conference.
d. It is easier to setup on mobile devices and you will be able to see all
of your email, contacts and calendar.
e. WebMail works very well - when connecting to it, it looks just like
outlook with all of the same capabilities.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Please contact me or Mario if
you have any questions.
Best regards. Karen
