Date and Time: Wednesday, March 28th, 2012

Impact to Campus:  Today, many members of the campus community received a
SPAM email message with the subject line: Urgent Announcement. This is about
an email upgrade that requests they click a link in order to upgrade their
university email.
 
Please be aware, this message did not come from UITS or the 24/7 IT Support
Center, and clicking the link could compromise your personal data, your
computer, or the campus network. 
 
Additional Information:  
UITS or your departmental IT will never ask you to compromise your safety by
asking you to provide sensitive data such as your password via email. Links
we provide to you will be for an arizona.edu address, and you should copy
and paste them to ensure your security.
 
Please be vigilant for phishing attempts and follow these e mail safety
steps:
*	Never send your password or personal information in response to an
email. 
*	Check links.  
*	Is the URL legitimate, such as uits.arizona.edu?  
*	Copy and paste the link into your browser. The URL in the link code
may not be the same as the link in the text.
*	Check with your departmental IT or the 24/7 IT Support Center if you
are unsure whether a message is legitimate. 
*	If you think your computer has been compromised, contact your
departmental IT staff or the 24/7 IT Support Center. 
*	If you think your UANetID password has been compromised, go to
http://netid.arizona.edu and change your password.
