Dear Maryam,
We congratulate the team members of LDN working group for bringing out the
extensive report and citing good examples, figures in the box inserted.
Sorry for the delay in bringing out few minor points for your
consideration.
1. Penning system is widely practiced by pastoralists during migration
which benefits local farmers for enriching soil fertility in crop land and
inturn reduces application of quantum of chemical fertilizer for
crop cultivation may be 1/3rd to 2/3 rd. This may be included in the
*mobility* of pastoralists point. We attach a paper for reference
2. In *mobility* point also participatory governance/local institutions
(though mentioned separately) can be included as it reduces over grazing ,
under grazing and enhance rotational grazing. .
3. In the Fig 8 of benefits of multiple benefits of
Sustainable pastoralism- Increase in Soil Fertility may be included .
We also agree that encroachment of *exotic species* as pointed out by
Fiona is to be highlighted.
regards
Vivekanandan
