Good morning everyone!
I hope you are all ready for the first day of class.
I wanted to send a quick note about the upcoming general election for several Senate and shared governance positions. CALES gets three Faculty Senate College Representatives (Currently Katie, Bobby, and I). Our terms are up after this year.
I wanted to point this out particularly as I decided not to run for another term.
At the very least I hope one other person runs for a senate spot to replace me.
CALES has always had good representation on senate, where other colleges often struggle finding people to fill, have people that run unopposed for years it seems (when maybe they should not be), etc. It's an important entity where have competent people is vital, which I think CALES has plenty of.
I'll speak for Katie and Bobby by saying if you have any questions on being a senator we are happy to chat with you. Melanie Hingle, Jim Hunt, Dan McDonald and others who have served prior I'm sure would too (sorry for signing you all up too 🙂).
The deadline to declare candidacy is January 19.
Have a great first day all.
Take care
Tim
