Deadline: May 2nd, 2016
Pilot Interdisciplinary Project grants are available to interdisciplinary teams of two or more faculty, for example from at least two colleges, who wish to obtain pilot data for a specific external proposal mechanism, generally at the level of $1M or greater total costs.

Deadline: Fall 2016
The Fellowship supports promising tenure-track faculty members (in any field) in becoming more widely recognized for their work and more closely connected with colleagues, nationally and internationally. In particular, the fellowship defrays costs associated with invited participation in a national or international professional meeting, where the awardee will present research findings, scholarship, and/or creative activities.

Deadline: September 1st, 2016
Shared Equipment Enhancement grants are available to augment scientific capacity through the acquisition of equipment for use by multiple investigators. Proposed equipment total cost not to exceed $150,000. Equipment must be located in a core facility or in a shared, accessible space, and must have multiple committed users from at least two departments and preferably from at least two different colleges. Equipment must not simply replace existing stock; it must add new capacity to enable competitiveness for an identified funding opportunity.

Start for Success awards are planning grants available to interdisciplinary groups of investigators to incubate new research programs that promise to lead to significant external funding. Awards range from $1,000 to $5,000 and can be used for activities such as workshops and consultants leading to development of an external proposal. Start for Success grants are accepted on an ongoing basis and take approximately one month to review.

Voya Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Voya Financial, has issued a Request for Proposals for projects designed to help more students graduate from high school prepared for success in college and future careers. To that end, the program will support new and existing programs that encourage parental involvement as a means to improve high school graduation rates. Initial awards will range between $10,000 and $50,000 for new Voya Foundation partners and/or programs serving only one Voya Financial site, and between $10,000 and $75,000 or more for current or previous partners as well as national programs, depending on the program’s alignment with the foundation’s priorities. Voya has major offices in Atlanta, Georgia; Braintree, Massachusetts; Des Moines, Iowa; Jacksonville, Florida; Minneapolis, Minnesota; New York City; Scottsdale, Arizona; West Chester, Pennsylvania; and Windsor, Connecticut. To be eligible, programs and organizations must be a year in length and operate in-school/afterschool activities or create resources that increase parental involvement in children’s academics and engage employee volunteers at one, several, or all areas where Voya Financial has a major office.

Alport Syndrome Foundation, Inc. – RFP Funding<http://uafoundation.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d7da969976ad1054115e901b0&id=8e5d0fbd1c&e=ba094b3a1c>
Deadline: March 21st, 2016
The Alport Syndrome Foundation (ASF), in partnership with the Pedersen Family Foundation and the Kidney Foundation of Canada, has issued a Request for Proposals for basic science and clinical research on the natural history, biochemical basis, and treatment of Alport Syndrome, a genetic condition characterized by kidney disease, hearing loss, and eye abnormalities. Through this RFP, ASF and its partners aim to advance the knowledge of, develop effective treatment protocols for, and discover a cure for Alport Syndrome. Projects that address the repurposing of existing approved drugs for the treatment of Alport Syndrome, the hearing-loss aspects of Alport Syndrome, and the development and testing of gene-therapy approaches are encouraged. ASF expects to award two one- or two-year grants of up to $100,000 in 2016. These funds should be considered as seed funding for the testing of initial hypotheses and the collection of preliminary data leading to successful long-term funding by the National Institutes of Health, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and/or other major funding institutions around the world.

IDEA is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve learning in higher education through research, assessment, and professional development. To advance these goals, the organization is accepting proposals for its 2016-17 Impact Grants Program, which includes Teaching/Learning grants and Campus Climate grants. The IDEA Impact Teaching/Learning Grant is designed to promote effective student learning by carefully exploring and systematically documenting the efficacy of various teaching practices, learning environments, and institutional policies. The IDEA Impact Campus Climate Grant is intended to support increased knowledge and understanding of campus climate issues that impact student learning and the ability of institutions to successfully carry out their mission.Grants of up to $10,000 will directly support individual faculty members, professional staff, departments, colleges, or programs. Grant recipients will be required to work with IDEA to disseminate their findings through the IDEA website, workshops or presentations in partnership with IDEA, or by writing an original IDEA paper.

The mission of the Alternatives Research & Development <http://uafoundation.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d7da969976ad1054115e901b0&id=6dae169651&e=ba094b3a1c> Foundation is to fund and promote the development, validation, and adoption of non-animal methods in biomedical research, product testing, and education. To advance this mission, the foundation is soliciting proposals for its 2016 Alternatives Research Grant Program. Grants of up to $40,000 will be awarded to support research related to alternatives to the use of laboratory animals in research, testing, and education. Priority will be given projects that use pathway-based approaches as exemplified by the 2007 National Academy of Sciences report, Toxicity Testing in the Twenty-First Century: A Vision and a Strategy.Universities and research institutions are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to institutions based in the United States.

Arizona Humanities supports innovative, community-based projects that use humanities disciplines to connect Arizonans to the cultures, peoples, and histories of the state and beyond. We welcome proposals from a wide range of nonprofit organizations and encourages projects that are innovative in their approach toward the humanities and public programming. Project Grants are competitive grants supporting public programming across Arizona using the humanities to provide context, depth, and perspective to the Arizona experience and explore issues of significance to Arizonans. Organizations may request up to $10,000 to support their program implementation.

Deadline: October 15th, 2016
Wild Ones, a nonprofit environmental education and advocacy organization, is accepting applications from projects that aim to enhance and develop an appreciation for nature using native plants. Through the Lorrie Otto Seeds for Education Fund, grants of up to $500 will be awarded to projects that emphasize the involvement of students and volunteers in all phases of their development. Examples of appropriate projects include the establishment of a native plant community in an educational setting such as an outdoor classroom, developing and maintaining an interpretive trail landscaped with native plant communities, and/or developing a wetland area to study the effect of native vegetation on water quality. Schools, nature centers, and other nonprofit places of learning that focus on educating K-12 students in the United States, including houses of worship, are eligible to apply. Qualified applicants must have a site available for the project.

PERC's fellowships for graduate students and law students offer the ideal opportunity for those who are interested in researching issues related to natural resources and the environment. Graduate fellows spend three months at PERC in Bozeman, Montana, researching and writing a paper under the supervision of a PERC senior fellow. While at PERC, fellows are required to present two workshops to outline, report on, and summarize their research findings. A paper of publishable quality is the expected result.

The purpose of IFER’s Fellowship Program is to provide financial incentives to graduate students in science that encourage them at the earliest stages of their career to integrate innovation and discovery with ethics and respect for animals. Fellowships are awarded to those candidates whose program of study shows the greatest potential to replace the use of animals in science. Graduate Fellowships to develop alternatives to the use of animals in research, testing and education are open to students enrolled in Master’s and Ph.D. programs in the sciences, and human or veterinary medicine. Fellowships will also be considered for graduate students in other fields, such as education, psychology, humanities, journalism, and the law, for projects that show promise to increase public awareness or to promote changes in the legal system or public policy regarding the use of animals in research, testing, and education.
