Subject: NSF Early Career Development (Career) Grant Preparation Program
Dear Deans, Associate Deans,
We have been broadly disseminating information on the upcoming Research Development Services (RDS, a unit of the Office for Research & Discovery) NSF Early Career Development (Career) Grant Preparation Program which begins next week on Thursday, January 22. As Deans and Associate Deans, we wanted to keep you apprised of the early career faculty development opportunities occurring on campus. Beyond the broad announcement, we have also shared this information with Department Heads; however please forward this information to any promising early career faculty.
The NSF Career program is an NSF-wide award, encompassing all directorates, and is one of the most prestigious early faculty awards. Eligible faculty for the Career program include untenured tenure-track (or tenure-track equivalent), doctoral degree holding, assistant professors that have not previously received a Career award. Recipients of the Career award are eligible for the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE).
The RDS program is conducted in two phases. Phase I, open to all interested participants, provides a series of introductory seminars and panels on the Career program and elements of the NSF proposal. Phase II, open to those that "commit to submit" a proposal due July 2015, provides customized guidance, mentorship, and review opportunities for the investigator.
Additional information, including full dates and topics, can be found on UA's Research Gateway at: http://rgw.arizona.edu/development/seminars-and-workshops/nsf-career-grant-preparation-program, or in the attached informational handout which is also available at: http://rgw.arizona.edu/sites/researchgateway/files/career-one-pagefinal_1.pdf
If you have any questions regarding the Career program, do not hesitate to contact me.
Ann
