*Subject:* Workshop for hiring committees

College hiring proposals are in the process of being approved by the
Provost's Office. We are prepared to support your hiring committees
build outstanding, diverse candidate pools in several different ways.
In the college call for hiring proposals, Provost Comrie requested that
one or more members of each hiring committee attend a workshop on
building expansive and inclusive candidate pools.

The first workshop is scheduled for Friday, September 21 from 8-9:30 in
the Presidio Room. You can sign up for this or a future workshop on line:

http://facultyaffairs.arizona.edu/RSVP-Hiring

As detailed in the reservations form, additional workshops are scheduled
for

9/26 3:30-5,

10/2 8-9:30,

10/11 3:30-5,

10/23 12:30-2, and

10/31 8-9:30

The hiring workshops will provide research-based strategies and UA-based
best practices for identifying candidates who will help us advance our
strategic priorities. If you are unable to attend a workshop, we are
also available to attend one of your search committee meetings.

Provost Comrie also requested that all hiring committees submit a search
plan outlining the recruitment strategies that will be used to build
expansive and inclusive candidate pools. As in previous years, you will
provide this information when completing the Requisition Form that is
used to post positions in the Career Track system. As in the past, this
Requisition Form requires information on hiring committees, intended
venues for advertising the positions, and networking strategies for
proactively recruiting candidates. To help you fill out the fields on
the Requisition Form, we have created the attached tip sheet for your work.

If you have questions on these requirements, please contact Kat
Francisco in the Provost's Office: ksexton at email.arizona.edu
<mailto:ksexton at email.arizona.edu>

If you have questions on the Career Track system, please contact Shannon
Hartsuck: hartsucs at email.arizona.edu <mailto:hartsucs at email.arizona.edu>

Working together, we can recruit faculty who will help us advance our
shared commitment to better serving the needs of our diverse students
and constituencies,

Thomas Miller, Associate Provost

Raji Rhys, Assistant Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer

Helena Rodrigues, Project Director, ADVANCE Program
