Subject: County Agricultural Economy Profiles

Good afternoon,

I wanted to provide a quick heads-up on a publication of ours that just came out, "County Agricultural Economy Profiles for Southern Arizona".

This collection of profiles synthesizes county-level data from the recent 2017 Census of Agriculture release, economic and demographic data, and water use data for Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, Pima, Pinal, Santa Cruz, and Yuma counties. The objective of the project was to present agricultural production, water use, and regional economic data in a standardized, integrated, and easy-to-read format to provide context on the role of agriculture within state and county economies, as well as its role as a manager of land and natural resources.

A link to the full report, including a statewide summary is here:
https://mapazdashboard.arizona.edu/sites/default/files/images/county_agricultural_economy_profiles.pdf

The project was supported through Eller's Economic and Business Research Center and their MAP Dashboard program which focuses on Southern Arizona. We have worked on a previous study on Farm-to-School programs in Southern Arizona supported by them, which can also be found at their site:
https://mapazdashboard.arizona.edu/article/farm-school-programs-southern-arizona-case-study-economics-local-foods

Because MAP Dashboard focuses on Southern Arizona, only 7 Southern Arizona profiles were published through this project. That said, we expect to complete profiles for Arizona's other 8 counties in coming weeks and will have all 15 individual county profiles and a state profile published through our department's publications website: https://cals.arizona.edu/arec/publications/cooperative-extension. If you are interested in having your county profile available through your county's Extension website, please let us know and we can work with Kelly Arizmendi to make that happen.

Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Regards,

Dari
