[CED/CD/EAT] Streamlining Quarterly Budget Reviews

Business leaders,

Over the last seven years quarterly all funds budgets have become a foundation of our division.  In that time, effective budget planning has enabled the hire of 164 faculty, increased salaries for all performing employees, and built trust with central administration about our finances.  The Dean and EC rely heavily upon the correctness and integrity of the quarterly budgets and refer to them throughout the year in response to every financial request from your unit leaders.

Going forward, the CALS and Extension business offices will streamline their review process.


  1.  Unit head-approved and submitted budgets will receive only a cursory review by the college or Extension.
  2.  If the budget has an obvious omission or error, the budget will be returned to you for clarification or correction.  You will have three business days to address the concern.
  3.  If the budget continues to have concerns, your unit head will be invited to attend the next available EC meeting, in person or via teleconference, to discuss the budget.

Kina Barton or Carolyne Greeno are available to train, listen, answer questions, and support units with this fundamental process.  Please proactively work with them.  Quarter 4 is due August 30.
