Office Safety Suggestions

Dear Colleagues,

In response to concerns about campus safety, I was asked to share what Division Business Services does.  Attached is a list that has been reviewed by multiple professionals on campus but is not exhaustive or intended to be a replacement for institutional security guidance.  It is shared in the belief that your local preparation prior to an emergency has a great impact on how your office/lab/department will respond to a real situation.  Emergency preparation is helpful regardless the type of emergency.

Please also reference my email from August 31 and sign up for UAlert<https://cirt.arizona.edu/sign-ualert> emergency text messages and emails.  Campus has recently changed subscriptions to never expire; however, it is still best practice to re-confirm your subscription to UAlert annually.  I plan to send a reminder to the ALVSCE Bulletin around September 1 of each year.

While preparation for an emergency can give a sense of empowerment to some, please remember that it can also trigger past trauma or fear for others.  Each person should determine for themselves how they can or want to participate in emergency preparation.  Support and counseling services are available for all who are interested.
