Subject: [oac] FAFSA - Financial Aid Update #2
Good Afternoon Campus Colleagues,
Please see the below message sent by Dean Kasey Urquídez to Enrollment Management and other campus leaders with the latest on the FAFSA deadline. I want to reiterate that the teams in OSFA, Admissions, and Marketing and Communications are actively working on updating communication plans, websites, presentations, and more to reflect this update. Fall 2024 prospective-committed students will receive the update this afternoon, current students will receive the update on Monday, and parent and family messaging will follow next week. We’re grateful for our colleagues across campus as we meet this challenge! Please connect my way with any questions—Have a great weekend.
--
The recent changes continue to keep us on our toes! Although most students are now able to submit the FAFSA without issues, the three Arizona public universities have extended our FAFSA priority filing date to May 1, 2024 (previously April 1), for both incoming and current students. This is part of our ongoing commitment to student access and success. Of course, we continue to encourage students and families to submit their FAFSA as soon as possible.
Once we begin receiving FAFSA data from the Department of Education (expected by mid-March), we will work promptly to process and send financial aid offers to new students. Keep in mind, this is affecting all colleges and universities – not just us.
At this time, we still encourage students to commit by May 1 and will refund any enrollment fees for fall 2024 through May 15 (as published). We will continue to monitor this situation and will carefully evaluate potential adjustments to support students as they make decisions about their education.
I have attached the Tri-University statement about the change to the priority filing date as well as an email message going to high school counselors today. In addition, we will be communicating with prospective students & their parents, as well as continuing students and their supporters.
Thanks,
