Hello advisors!

As we're preparing for priority registration, I wanted to remind you that the Honors College has implemented a change to the honors curriculum for our first-year students.  All first-year honors students will be required to complete a one-unit honors seminar in the spring semester, as a follow-up to the Honors Catalyst seminar they are taking this fall.  Hopefully you remember hearing about this change in the message I sent out in the spring.

We are actively reminding first-year students of this requirement, and next week we will be sending them a detailed list of their spring seminar options.  Students will be able to choose from 60 unique seminars, offered at different times throughout the week, with topics ranging from neuroscience to dance to cultural studies, and everything in between.  Students are encouraged to choose a seminar that is of interest to them and that will allow them to explore a new topic.  You can view an in-progress list of participating faculty and seminar titles at https://www.honors.arizona.edu/honors-professors.  Course descriptions and times will be added as those details are finalized.

We appreciate your taking the seminar requirement into consideration as you're helping your first-year honors students plan their spring schedules.  The approved seminars will be numbered HNRS 195H, 195I, 195J, and 195K (special topics in social science, science, humanities, and fine art), and will be available for registration via UAccess during priority registration.  Please don't hesitate to follow up with me if you have questions about the seminars, or about honors in general.
