Greetings Agvisors:

For your reference and feedback, below is the content we email and send via
snail mail to all students seeking readmission that left in poor academic
standing.

Advisors can check the students 'admission' status to verify if they are
readmits in UAccess. Refer to Main Menu - Campus Community - Student
Services Center. From there select the 'admissions' tab. The students plan
(major) will appear along with 'admit type' and date it was referred to the
college/department for review. In CAS we make a final decision based on
your recommendation on the Academic Plan. This occurs after the student
meets with us to review and sign/agree to the contract (now referred to
academic agreement on UAccess). If you hold reservations on a student's
readmission but do not feel comfortable selecting 'deny' on the academic
plan, please default to selecting 'for consideration' and follow up with
Kristen Geary or myself via email or by phone. We appreciate it!

The academic plan is for the advisors to make an evaluation of a student's
status and determine if they are in the appropriate major. This is also a
good time to discuss course selection, grade replacement opportunity and
other factors associated with the student's status if you are supporting the
readmission. We sincerely value that department advisors can determine if
a student is a good fit for the major they have selected.

If you have any suggestions on how we should handle this process please let
me know. We want to make it easy for both the advisor and student. Please
note that students that end up on probation for the first time will also get
an academic plan. It's very similar to this one but it does indicate
probation versus readmission at the top of the document. Shortly I will
send the email all first time probation students received for your
reference. Since academic agreements (contracts) are now available on-line
you might get students requesting information on this. We would like to
continue meeting with them individually in CAS (Forbes 211) so refer them to
schedule with Kristen or I at 520-621-3616.

Access has been requested for all department advisors (at least for those
that attend the agvisors meetings) to have view access to the academic
agreements on UAccess. The email I will send regarding first time probation
students will include additional information on the academic agreements.
This is one of the agenda items for the first agvisors meeting in August.

Thanks in advance for your input and the assistance you provide to students.
Your dedication and hard work is much appreciated.

Best,
Nancy

Subject: UA College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Readmission Information

Dear *******:

We are responding to your request for readmission to the University of
Arizona to study in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS).
Before a decision is made you must follow the steps below in order:

. Fill out the enclosed Academic Plan

*	Schedule an in-person or phone appointment with major advisor of
interest to review and sign Academic Plan (list of advisors in CALS can be
found on on-line at <http://advising.arizona.edu/node/6>
http://advising.arizona.edu/node/6 ). The Academic Plan must be completely
filled out by the student prior to the appointment with the advisor. The
advisor will then review and sign it.
*	Schedule an in-person or phone appointment with an academic Advisor
in the Office of Career and Academic Services (CAS). Please bring an
unofficial transcript from the last institution you attended (if applicable)
along with the Academic Plan signed by the major advisor to the appointment.
You can schedule the CAS appointment by phone at (520) 621-3616 or in person
at the Forbes Building Room 211.

After your meetings, the committee will send you a letter detailing the
decision. We encourage you take care of this process soon since
registration for the upcoming term is in progress. If you have any
questions regarding this process please call (520) 621-3616.

Best Regards,
