Greetings Agvisors:
The deadline for students to apply for their degree candidacy is August 30.
It is typically September 1 but since it falls on a Sunday it defaults to
the business day prior. Students only need to submit the application. All
CALS majors, except FSHD and RCSC, can obtain the application in Forbes Room
211. FSHD and RCSC students apply at McPark Room 203.
Only the application needs to be submitted to avoid a $50 late fee.
Students do not have to complete the entire process by that date.
Thanks for informing your students on this. Below is a sample email you can
modify to send your students - courtesy of Kate Johansen.
Best,
Nancy

Sample email to students (thanks Kate!)
Hello ACBS Students,
For those who intend to graduate Dec 2013, you will need to file for degree
check by AUG 30th to avoid a late fee! Stop by Forbes 211 and request a
degree candidacy application, fill it out, then leave it with the front desk
staff.
The process for graduation will look like this:
1. Complete the form for degree candidacy. (THIS IS THE ONLY STEP THAT
MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE AUG 30TH TO AVOID THE LATE FEE.)
2. Once Julie Adkins officially processes your request she will email
you and let you know it is ready to be picked up.
3. Then you will make an appointment with me and let me know it is for
a degree check when you request the appointment. Be sure to bring your pink
sheets/packet that Julie gives you with you to our appointment.
4. I'll double check your upper division units (42), total units (120)
and course requirements for you major, and make any corrections necessary on
attached sheets in the packet.
5. Once the paperwork/packet is signed, you will return it to Nancy
Rodriguez-Lorta in Forbes Room 211.
Please email me if you have any questions. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Kind regards,
Kate
