VOLUNTEER IN NICARAGUA THIS SUMMER!

And "Be the Roots of Change"

Make a valuable change in someone's life by joining Growth International
Volunteer Excursions (GIVE)! Become a part of our volunteer community and
empower local villages in rural Nicaragua, the second poorest country in the
western hemisphere. Nearly 40% of the population cannot read or write, and
the average student is only educated through 5th grade. GIVE is dedicated to
creating opportunities for community development and personal growth through
education, building of infrastructure, and environmental conservation
projects.

GIVE initiatives include establishing large-scale fresh water projects that
will provide 12,000 locals with clean water, building a secondary school,
and helping teach English to children. Volunteers will also be working
directly with organizations focused on important conservation projects to
protect the hawksbill and leatherback turtle population as well as the local
caiman and crocodile populations. As a thank you for your hard work, you
will also have the opportunity to venture out to climb volcanoes, spear
fish, swim with dolphins and sharks, surf, and get fully certified for scuba
diving in the Caribbean.

As a GIVE volunteer, you will be exposed to two culturally distinct sides of
Nicaragua, from the small fishing villages on the Pacific coast to the
Jamaican and Creole-influenced Caribbean islands. After 8 days of
volunteering, we will travel to remote islands in the Caribbean for a week
of scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing, fishing, and building relationships
with the local community. Snorkeling and scuba diving off these islands is
some of the best in the world, with a diverse ecosystem of fish, coral
reefs, and mammalian wildlife. In addition, volunteers will have the
opportunity to read with and teach the local children on the island.
Volunteers will also participate in an interactive seminar where you provide
your own input on our projects!

Not only will volunteers receive a hands-on experience, but they will also
learn about sustainable development and cross-cultural relations. This would
be a great leadership opportunity because students will learn how to take
initiative on volunteer projects and lead others in the process.
Additionally, GIVE is able to tailor each volunteer's experience to align
with his or her education or experience.
