A couple of timely honey bee publications have issued regarding “Honey Bees in Community Environments - Identification and Biology” and “Integrated Pest Management for Wild Honey Bees in Community Environments”. With bee swarms moving around the valley on to golf courses and surrounding neighborhoods and into community parks and recreational facilities, golf superintendents and sports turf managers and their crews should be aware and cautious when dealing with bees. Links to the publications are at: http://turf.arizona.edu
A “Handbook on Pests of Community Environments in the Desert Southwest United States” is a guide to identify common desert insects and weeds. The handy online guide can be found at: http://turf.arizona.edu/publications.htm
Remember to register for the upcoming Turfgrass Field Day on May 4 in Tucson http://turf.arizona.edu
