The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) – Fire and Resource Assessment Program is currently looking to fill the position of Senior Environmental Scientist -Specialist (Climate Change and Forest Inventory) in Sacramento county. Under the direction of the of Forest Health Research & Monitoring Program Manager (Senior Environmental Scientist - Supervisory), the Climate Change and Forest Inventory Specialist serves as a lead scientist for the Department on forest inventory and forest and harvested wood product (HWP) carbon accounting methods. This position is responsible for utilizing U.S. Forest Service Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) and Timber Product Output (TPO) data, geospatial and remote sensing products, and other data sources to conduct detailed analysis and annual reporting of forest and HWP carbon stocks, net change in carbon, and drivers of change and provide information on the potential role for the forest sector in nature-based climate solutions.

CAL FIRE’s Fire and Resource Assessment Program assesses the amount and extent of California's forests and rangelands, analyzes their conditions and identifies alternative management and policy guidelines.
