Hello U of A Natural Resources & Environment Department,

My name is Preston Sands, and I am with Arizona Conservation Corps, a non-profit conservation organization based in Tucson, Arizona. I wanted to share a paid internship opportunity that we are currently offering with the Bureau of Land Management in Tucson, Arizona, that would be ideal for someone on a natural resource or environmental science career track.

Attached is the position description for our Border Restoration Internship, which contains all of the details for this internship position, which runs from approximately September 25, 2023 to August 30, 2024. The start date is flexible though. This position involves range ecology, invasive species removal, collecting field data, flora and fauna surveys, recreation use analyzation, organizing volunteer projects, coordinating with local government and state government agencies, opportunities to work with GIS, and other career development skills. This position comes with an AmeriCorps Education Award (scholarship) upon successful completion, and is eligible for a Public Lands Corps Certificate, which is a competitive hiring document that is very helpful for those (18-30) looking to start their career. Pay is $500 per week. The application link is athttps://azcorps.org/ip-positions, and is also listed at the bottom of the attached position description.

I am also happy to assist the selected intern with any paperwork to help them receive college credit for their involvement with this internship. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me (contact info listed below).

Thank you so much!

Best,

Preston Sands
