Applications are invited for a 9-month 1.0 FTE tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank (45% research, 45% teaching/mentoring, 10% service) at the Eastern Oregon Agricultural Research Center - Union Experiment Station, Oregon State University. Tenure is in the Department of Animal and Rangeland Sciences. This position will teach 2-3 courses each year and is expected to establish an internationally recognized, externally funded research program in rangeland ecology. Research that is directly relevant to addressing current and emerging natural resource challenges facing arid/semi-arid ecosystems are of particular interest. Areas of specialization could include sustainable grazing systems, multiple use natural resource management, ecological restoration, remote sensing/geospatial technologies, climate variability, and sustainable management and stewardship. Union Station is comprised of a research complex located on a 600-acre ranch, Hall Ranch (2,000 acre ranch of riparian, grassland and conifer forest), a 5,500 acre grazing allotment within the Starkey Experimental Forest and Range (USDA Forest Service) and an approximately 225 head cow herd to support grazing research. EOARC faculty collaborate on research and outreach efforts with a wide range of stakeholders including producers, agencies, tribes and non-governmental organizations.
