Hi Tierra Seca Board,



Could you share the following announcement with any students looking for a
seasonal position this fall?

The University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Gila County office is
looking for up to 3 seasonal range techs to assist with collecting
long-term vegetation trend data (dry weight rank, frequency, fetch, and
ground cover) across all districts of the Tonto National Forest. UA
collects data in conjunction with USFS range staff and ranchers.

The field season starts at the end-September and goes through early April.
Typically, field work is Tuesday – Thursday with 10-14 hour days. There
will be occasional field work on Monday or Friday. There will also be
occasional camping at a ranch if it is difficult to get to.  When not in
the field there is remote office work (data management, generating reports
using VGS, etc.) that can be completed for additional hours.

The daily meeting location will be Globe, AZ. You will be compensated for
your commute. In past years, crew members coming from outside of Globe have
camped outside of town on the forest during the week to reduce commute
hours. The hourly wage is $22-30/hr depending on experience. Since this is
a contract position benefits are not provided.
