Position Summary :

Audubon California seeks a Program Director to lead the ACR Initiative in California with potential expansion along the Pacific Flyway. Over the next three years, ACR goals in California include:

-Expanding ACR across California and into Pacific Northwest, increasing acres enrolled in the program from 70,000 to 1 million acres—keeping carbon in the ground and enhancing habitat for imperiled grassland birds.

-Providing access to ACR beef for eco-conscious consumers in all major California markets across all market pathways, including direct to consumer, in-store retail, online, and institutional.
Identifying and activating conservation finance opportunities, including public and private carbon markets, to increase financial incentives for ranch enrollment while effectively addressing climate change.

-Ensuring the State of California sets statewide goals for natural and working lands climate adaptation and mitigation; and allocates funding to achieve these objectives.

-Supporting natural and working lands climate solutions through the Farm Bill and other legislation and policy, including Governor Newsom’s 30 by 30 executive order.

The Conservation Ranching Program Director will be responsible for the overall management and growth of the ACR Initiative including strategic planning, fundraising, program execution, outcome tracking, budget and staff management, and partner engagement and relationship building. The position will work closely with ranchers, NGO and agency partners, and Audubon state and national staff to ensure and provide programmatic support to ACR staff and consultants.
