ACR seeks a Program Director for its Fire Forward Initiative, a regional cooperative effort to change the way we live with fire the North San Francisco Bay area – acknowledging our fire-adapted and fire-dependent landscapes and incorporating this understanding into all aspects of our regional culture. ACR is partnering with public and private agencies across the region, state and country to align fire management needs and efforts and work toward an increase in the pace and scale of ecologically applied fire management using a cooperative, partnered approach.



This is a fast-growing new program that requires a motivated leader seeking to make a major contribution to regional fire management. The ideal candidate is passionate about the role of fire in California ecosystems, has direct experience planning and implementing prescribed fire and other fuels treatments, and has proven program development skills. The candidate must have excellent communications skills and be diplomatic when working with agencies and people with a wide variety of perceptions about fire.  The candidate should be a network-builder and be able to supervise and mentor staff.



Applicants should have either an advanced degree (MS or above) in fire science or forestry AND/OR qualifications as a burn boss (RXBB) or Registered Professional Forester.
