Dr. Jeremy James with University of California Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources in cooperation with Dr. Roger Sheley at the Eastern Oregon Agricultural Research Center seek a post-doctoral researcher to lead a multi-state research project investigating biotic and abiotic drivers of native plant recruitment on degraded intermountain rangeland and identifying potential management actions that can be used to improve large-scale restoration efforts. Major duties include synthesizing current literature to identify critical knowledge gaps and working with project scientists and field technicians to design and implement research filling theses gaps and lead publication efforts to present these results.   The ideal candidate will have an excellent track record of leading field research, strong statistical skills, the ability to lead field work under remote field conditions, as well as the ability to publish impactful work in major peer-reviewed journals. The initial project design and field work will occur out of the USDA-ARS facilities in Burns OR, which provides field support and access to filed sites in OR and CA.  Although the project will be run out of the ARS location the candidate will be expected to maintain strong communication and coordination across the project team. The proposed starting date is Jan 2018.  Initial funding is for one year with continued funding possible based on project needs and progress towards research goals. Applications deadline is 10/30/17.
