> Hello! My name is Deanna Kulbeth. As a graduate student, I work with a team (called the Green Fund Team) to bridge the distance between the UA student body, student organizations, and the Cooper Center for Environmental Learning and to bring sustainable philosophies and practices to campus. I am excited to invite you all to a very special event at a place you’ll be surprised you never knew about!
>

> Never heard about Camp Cooper? I am happy to inform you that about 20 minutes from campus, a piece of raw Sonoran Desert is readily available for adventures, projects, and visits from UA students and our Tucson community. This camp represents a 50-year partnership between the UA and TUSD, and is the home of a family of javelinas, many mule deer, rattlesnakes, saguaros, and other plants and wildlife that belong in desert territories. The camp also hosts programs for children that teach about ecological concepts and sustainable lifestyles.
>
>
> In fact, this year 13 TUSD classes will be coming to Cooper to experience the Earthkeepers program, which is part of a discipline called earth education and over the course of 3 days and 2 nights teaches concepts such as interrelationships and connections between living things, change over time, and cycles of earth materials. Through a series of encounters, students learn to make choices that will help them live more lightly on the earth. Many UA students from the College of Education and campus clubs and organizations will be visiting Cooper for their internships and volunteer hours throughout the year!

> The very special event is the first tree-planting that the Cooper Center for Environmental Learning has ever had! Located at 5430 W Trails End Rd, Tucson, AZ 85745, the Cooper Center has recently been offered 24 trees by Tucson Clean and Beautiful. These trees will be arriving at the camp tomorrow, November 17th, and will be planted on Saturday, November 18th from 8am to 2pm.
>
>
> We would like to invite your society to join us at Camp Cooper for the day and take part in the tree planting experience! A light breakfast will be provided, and Camp Cooper will be providing charcoal grills, so BYOM (Bring Your Own Meat) to grill or bring your own lunch. (Please note that if you intend to use the offered grill in any way, please let me know via email. Thank you!)

> Trees help aid our desert Tucson environment in several ways. From enhancing biodiversity to just being beautiful, trees build a community from the roots up. And hours spent at Cooper are full of good views, good people, and good times! We want you to know that all the hours you contribute to this cause can also count as service hours for your club!
>
>
> We would like to know how much to buy for breakfast, so we are having all volunteers sign up at the following link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oOID6aZ5Ap8gfac1k7KeLzT5taBDqmLevyhUk9ZDLKE/edit#gid=0 <https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oOID6aZ5Ap8gfac1k7KeLzT5taBDqmLevyhUk9ZDLKE/edit#gid=0>

> I would greatly appreciate it if you passed the above link and information about this opportunity along to the members of Tierra Seca! Please let me know if you have any further questions, comments, or concerns! Cheers to you from us all!
