! It’s that time of year where the temperatures are cooling down and you
want to spend as much time as possible outside. If you love hiking and
currently looking for a volunteer opportunity, please consider becoming a
volunteer for Weed Free Trails.

The goal of Weed Free Trails is to hike the Saguaro National Park trails
network, eradicating non-native, invasive plants that threaten the native
ecosystem. Volunteer weed-free trail monitors will hike and examine trail
segments a minimum of 3 times per year, independently and on a very
flexible schedule.

Weed Free Trails is a great way to get involved with Saguaro National Park
and learn a variety of skills such as:
Plant identification
Cultural training
GPS training
Radio training
Outreach
Hiking Safety

Volunteers are asked to attend 2 half day orientations (Required for new
WFT volunteers) November 22, 2014 1:00pm-4:00pm (Classroom)
November 23, 2014 8:00am-12:00pm (Field)

Park at Rincon Mountain District Visitor Center (Saguaro East) and follow
signs to the Headquarters conference room.

To register for orientation or for more information, contact Eric Lassance
<eric_lassance at nps.gov?subject=Weed%20Free%20Trails%20> or call
