Subject: [azsrm] Type Conversion Survey

Hello AZSRM Members! We hope you will participate in this short survey by March 15, 2019. Your input is invaluable.

Myself (grad student), Dr. Jonathan Coop, and Dr. Corrie Knapp are interested in gaining a better understanding of what researchers, resource managers, and others mean when they refer to vegetation- (or site-, or ecological-) "type conversion", as catalyzed by severe disturbance. Our focus is western North America. We are inquiring about how extensively, where, and in what vegetation types this phenomenon may be occurring, whether it is viewed as a management concern, and how it may be addressed.

Here is a link to the survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PNWYZWD

Most questions are checkboxes or yes/no, but we have included additional opportunities for much-appreciated viewpoints and thoughts throughout. The survey should take 5-8 minutes to complete. All responses are anonymous.

We are trying to get the survey out to both forest managers, range managers and researchers. I am reaching out to you to see if you would be willing to help us disseminate the survey via your network, Society for Range Management/AZ. For example, via social media, an email, or a mention + link in your newsletter or webpage. Please let me know if that might be a possibility, or if you have any other questions. The survey closes 3/15/2019.

Many scientists as well as The Southwest Fire Science Consortium and the Southern Rockies Fires Science Network have positively responded and sent our survey to their networks, via webpage, social media, and email. We have received valuable (qualitative/quantitive) survey responses so far, and look forward to response from your network.

Many thanks for your time and attention to this important survey. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
