Dear Western Rangelands Partnership members,

Good morning! The annual meeting in Alaska is quickly approaching and that means it is time to begin gathering nominations for the Secretary-Treasurer position within the partnership. This is a great opportunity to become more involved in the partnership. For those who are new, in the normal or desired rotation of rangeland specialists and librarians, we are looking for a rangeland specialist to fill the Sec.-Treas. position this year. Please contact one of the officers (Jeanne Pfander (chair): pfanderj at u.library.arizona.edu<mailto:pfanderj at u.library.arizona.edu>, Dave Kruger (sec/trea): Tseliot at uwyo.edu<mailto:Tseliot at uwyo.edu>, or Rachel Mealor: rdmealor at uwyo.ed<mailto:rdmealor at uwyo.ed>) if you would like to volunteer or nominate someone for this position. Please make sure each person agrees to being nominated before putting their name up for consideration. Below are details regarding the duties and position from the bylaws that may be helpful in making your decision.

ARTICLE IV. Organization and Administration
...C. The Secretary-Treasurer will prepare minutes of the annual meeting, maintain the budget of the Partnership, and prepare documents for necessary reporting.

D. The Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary-Treasurer will serve as the Executive Committee of the Partnership. With guidance from the Steering Committee, the Executive committee shall be empowered to act on behalf of the Partnership between annual meetings.

... ARTICLE V. Nomination and Election of Officers.

Section 1. The terms of officers is for three years with a Secretary-Treasurer elected each year. Progression is from Secretary-Treasurer to vice chair (in second year) to chair (in third year).

Section 2. Candidates for the office of Secretary-Treasurer shall be nominated or recruited from active members. A candidate may run uncontested, if only one is willing to run.

... Section 5. A mix of librarians and rangeland specialists among officers is desired. The desired model would be that incoming officers would alternate between librarian and rangeland specialist. However, variation from this pattern is acceptable in efforts to engage qualified officers and in the case of vacancies.

Thank you in advance for your attention to this and your consideration in serving the Western Rangelands Partnership. Please nominate/volunteer for the sec.-treas. position by May 3rd. We are looking forward to a great annual meeting and seeing you (or hearing from you online) next month!

Grace and peace,
Rachel
