We are seeking a motivated Environmental Management Specialist. This position will be located outside of Tucson, Arizona (near Marana, Arizona) and reporting to the Protected Culture Agronomy & IPM Lead. 
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring consistent and predictable performance of the controlled environment spaces in a cutting-edge, automated greenhouse environment.  Through management of climate, irrigation and lighting this role will be instrumental in supporting the production of high quality corn plants and seed in our 8-acre facility.
Key Responsibilities:

  *   Manage daily environmental conditions, irrigation and programming needs for greenhouse and growth chamber environments
  *   Development and maintenance of environmental growth protocols within PRIVA control system to ensure successful crop production
  *   In partnership with our Engineering and Facilities Teams establish proactive maintenance programs that ensure uninterrupted performance of greenhouse environment
  *   Frequent and timely communication with Engineering and Production Teams to ensure alignment, address challenges, correct errors that may impact plant or seed quality and share best practices
  *   Develop and monitor KPIs and metrics that report on operating performance
  *   Proactive interaction with plant production team to ensure systems are running as intended, analyze/review key data and adjust protocols or recipes
Required Skills/Experience:

  *   BS degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Agriculture, Biosystems Engineering or related field
  *   A minimum of 5 years of experience in controlled environment agriculture
  *   Experience with greenhouse control systems
  *   Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  *   Demonstrated decision-making ability; self-starter and highly motivated
  *   Possess strong problem-solving skills and ability to address issues
  *   Results/detail-orientation and the ability to work with a sense of urgency
  *   Strong computer skills related to data acquisition and analysis
  *   Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain effective relationships
  *   Must be passionate about plant growth work

Desired Skills/Experience:

  *   Knowledge of Plant Physiology, Plant Nutrition, and/or Plant Pathology
  *   Proficiency with PRIVA software and hardware; experience with the PRIVA system for greenhouse climate control
  *   Experience with hydroponic systems, water chemistry and/or nutrient management
