PUBLIC HORTICULTURE INTERNSHIP
Interns participate in a variety of hands-on learning activities in the botanic and children's gardens including: horticulture, education, development, volunteer management, landscape design, pest management, greenhouse production
and conservatory gardening. The goal of our public horticulture internship program is to promote and instill a passion for public gardens and horticultural science and theory. There are three, 12-week, paid positions available for the
summer of 2016.
Position Summary: At the completion of the internship, interns will be able to:
* Demonstrate high plains horticultural gardening techniques.
* Promote community education through youth and adult gardening workshops.
* Describe administrative aspects of running a small municipal public garden.
* Practice safe and effective horticultural tool and equipment maintenance.
Qualifications
* Currently in or have recently completed Bachelor's or Master's program in horticulture or public garden management or a closely related fields.
* Capable of kneeling, standing, and bending for extended periods of time
* Capable of lifting 50lbs unassisted
* Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record
* Must be able to work with people from all backgrounds and abilities.
About the Area
Cheyenne is located thirty minutes from Medicine Bow National Forest and Curt Gowdy State Park, forty-five minutes from the University of Wyoming and Colorado State University, and ninety minutes from Denver, Colorado.
The area boasts world-class botanizing, fishing, hiking and mountain biking.
