ALL YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT GETTING AN INTERNSHIP!
(See below…)

I’ve attached the CALS Internship Manual. It contains all of the University required forms to receive academic credit for an internship as well as all of the necessary liability waivers. It is ultimately the responsibility of the student to facilitate the completion of all of the paperwork.

To make the process a bit smoother, obtain a description of your internship from the employer or employer site. This can simply be attached to the internship packet instead of filling out all of the descriptions required in the forms (pages 8&9). If they don’t have a description already pages 8&9 of the internship manual are a good guide to ensure you, your faculty advisor and internship supervisor are all aware of the expectations and duties of your experience. To receive academic credit for the internship (ie. PLS493), find a faculty who is willing to oversee your internship experience and work with your academic major advisor to enroll in the correct section.

You may also want to attend the CALS Career Center Internship and Career workshops (information below) to help you prepare and get the most out of your experience.

If you have any further questions please feel free to email Kyle Sharp, or the CALS Coordinator of Internship and Career Support Ms. Dari Trujillo. Both Dari and Kyle will begin holding walk-in hours for questions regarding internships and career information next week.
