Subject: FARAWAY RANCH - Chiricahua N M

My name is Jim Court. Retired NPS ranger/superintendent. Volunteer at
Faraway Ranch in Chiricahua NM.

Faraway Ranch is perhaps the first guest ranch in Arizona. It began as a
ranch that had a fruit orchard - next to a successful homestead with a fruit
orchard. The NPS bought the ranch, added it to Chiricahua, and spent money
fixing up the house while neglecting the landscaping. I am interested in
getting advice and perhaps some labor from people interested in helping
maintain the remaining existing plants as well as establishing a small
orchard of similar trees.

Presently there are at least seven apricot trees, a pear, apple, and about
30 persimmon trees - all in desperate need of pruning and TLC. Might your
club be interested in adopting Faraway Ranch as a project. As a volunteer I
can't promise anything but perhaps some funding, housing, tools, etc. might
be available.

You may respond by e-mail or call number listed below. If you can't help us
perhaps you might suggest someone else who could.
