Hi all,
Please read this notice carefully if you are a sophomore, junior or senior
in Plant Sciences.
Important announcement on PLS 359 time Change in Fall 2013.
Plant Cell Structure and Function (PLS 359) will now meet between 11-12:15
PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Shantz 247.
What will you learn in this course?
In this course, I will start teaching the molecular and subcellular
organization of a single plant cell. Subsequently, I will teach organization
and function of plant tissues and organs. Emphasis will be placed on
teaching the structural and functional aspects of plants using development,
cell biology, genetics, and physiology. I will also discuss 4 primary
research articles to show how what we learnt is important for translational
research and improving Agriculture. In summary, you will obtain a
comprehensive understanding as to how plants develop and how they are
fundamentally different from animal development.

This course is a core requirement for the Plant Sciences major which should,
ideally, be taken before enrolling in PLS360. It is acceptable to take
PLS240 and PLS359 concurrently so, please arrange your schedule to
accommodate this course where appropriate.
For Sustainable Plant Systems majors, this is a fantastic free elective
option. It not only covers basic anatomy but also the genetic basis for
plant development and applications to whole plant processes.
Let me know if you have questions,
Tanya
